Nepal is a landlocked republic that stretches from the Mahakali river in the west to the Mechi River in the east with a 1050 mi of open border within India to the south, east, and west. To the north, the mighty Himalayas serve as a buffer with China control Tibet. The Nepal capital city is Kathmandu. Initially, the name Nepal denoted only the Kathmandu valley and was associated with its original inhabitants, the Newar. (Ne) mean livestock and (pala) means guardian. Hinduism prevails from the southern plains, home to 50% of the population, up through the mild hills, it blends with Buddhism.Only a small percentage of Nepalese are Muslims and Christian although inroads have recently been made by proselytizing missionaries and the number of converters is rising. Nepal has many festivals and the most enjoyable festival for tourists are two festivals. Holi festival: Holi festival is in big trekking season time on March month. The festival heralds the arrival of spring and the legendary defeat of demoness Holika by Vishnu. Happy holiday or holy hell? There is much feasting as friends and family units, gifts are exchange and blessing import.
